Happy Birthday Andrew!

Andrew celebrated his fifth birthday today! I remember 5 years ago, my brother-in-law called and told me that I had to have the baby that day since he was going to take it off from work so he and Rachelle could watch the kids for us. Mom and Dad were on a cruise so Adam and Rachelle (with their 1 and 3 year old) were on call. I said okay and Matt and I headed to the hospital. The doctor kept me and told me to walk the halls. Within 2 hours, Drewie had completely flipped so he was now breech. Things got a little complicated at that point, but hours later Andrew was born completely without the help or knowledge of anyone else. I had had an epidural so although I was still quite uncomfortable I was unaware of the little guy making his way into the world. When the doctor checked me (at Matt's insistence- he told her he knew my labors and it was going to happen anytime. It took a while for her to listen to him!) baby boy was lying on the bed.
He hasn't made any quiet entrances since! He is full of life, fun and drama. He is constantly trying to keep up with his big brothers- if they can do it, so can he. (Unless it's putting on his socks. He doesn't care to do that on his own...) Football is the love of his life right now. He spends his days kicking field goals or trying to make amazing catches while still staying in bounds. It's always a "game winning fieldgoal", or a must-catch reception since it's "fourth and inches and they're going for it". It's a good thing for nerf balls!
Andrew asked Jesus into his heart when we were out in Missouri. He continues to love Jesus and we are always encouraging him in His walk with God. He is a real joy to watch. He's always been a daddy's boy. Before he could talk, he would put his index finger on his cheek to sign "dad". I remember him every Sunday when someone would bring him up from nursery his finger was always on his cheek looking for dad. Recently we were at someone's house when he fell and got hurt. Nothing serious, but he cried that we had to go home "right now" since he needed dad. Now he sits next to Matt in church and somehow has convinced Matt to "tickle my back" during the whole sermon! He is doing Kindergarten schoolwork and is doing a great job. We have a lot of fun together.
Matt and I pray that Andrew will love God with all his heart, soul and mind. That he will make right choices and that whatever he decides to do with his life, he brings glory to God.
We love you Drewie!
