On Wednesday we celebrated Matt's birthday. I will say though, that it didn't start out very well for him. He woke up sick! He was supposed to speak at a school chapel but had an awful cough and very little voice. We tried to make up for his sickness by making his day extra special for him.
I thank God so often for Matt's life. I can't imagine mine without him! There's noone in this world I'd rather spend time with. He is my best friend. I admire him for many reasons. He seeks to follow God first. He has taught me about fearing God and making what God thinks (rather than what people think) the most important consideration when I make any decision. He is so kind to me and cares about me and my feelings. I am constantly amazed at the father he is. I think that in an eartly way he demonstrates God as a Father to our children. He disciplines them because he loves them yet he shows mercy and compassion just as God does to HIS children. He uses the Bible as the final authority for the decisions he makes and for the rules he sets for the kids. The kids and I love him so much!

Happy Birthday son! You were a joy and a blessing as a child, and you continue to bless me with beautiful grandchildren & a sweet, wonderful daughter-in-law. Your name means 'Gift of Jehovah', and you truly are. Love you always, Mom
