the light

I am taking a very short break (before I pack up the computer) to share something that happened a couple of days ago.  Micah sleeps in our bedroom closet and along with his small crib, there are a couple of dressers in there.  Micah knows his room.  When he woke up from his nap the other day  he was all out of sorts.  I picked him up and I watched him look around at his empty room.  He looked all confused and upset and was fussing.  Then, as I held him, he tipped up his head and looked up at the light on the ceiling.  He suddenly stopped fussing and pointed at the light with a happy look on his face.  That was still there!

I couldn't help but make an analogy.  Things are changing here and yes, it can be very upsetting.  We are eating differently, sleeping differently, spending our time differently.  But one thing does not and will not change.  The Light.  Even though I packed my regular coffee sweetener, the couch that I sit on when I have my Quiet Time is on the truck, my pretty light that I turn on when I come down in the morning is packed.....  God is still there.  Waiting for me.  He speaks to me and reminds me of His presence in my every moment, His love for me, His sameness.

Even to your old age I will be the same,
And even to your graying years I will bear you!
I have done it, and I will carry you;
And I will bear you and I will deliver you.
Isaiah 46:4
