dover point

So the tradition starts in 2001. Matt and I, along with our 3 children (wow...) were on our way to Schroon Lake, New York so Matt could attend Word of Life Bible Institute. It was bittersweet as we were leaving the closeness of our extended family. So, Mom decided we should have a get together on Labor Day (the day before we were leaving) to send us off. She chose Hilton Park. It ends up that every year since then we have had a picnic there on Labor Day! Some years all 4 of us Townsend kids have made it (plus spouses, kids, dogs....) and some years only some of us have been able to be around for it. We have also had my dad's mom (Gram) with us and in recent years my mom's dad (Bik) and his wife with us. This year we were missing Ron, Bobbi and Lilla (along with their dogs) and Melanie and Chad (because they were thinking that Labor Day might be just that for Melanie. Baby Callen held off his arrival until 3 days after that. That is another post in itself though because, well.. you'll just have to see for yourself!). Gram wasn't there either.

Anyway, the weather couldn't have been any better. It was beautiful. We had such a nice time and I am so thankful we made it back.
